Joe Rogan is intensely passionate about sports and martial arts, which clearly reflects on his popular podcast as well. He amasses a great deal of knowledge on a variety of combat sports, nutrition, and things that revolve around that. The 55-year-old loves UFC and is a part of the business as a commentator, too. However, Dana White’s other venture, the ‘Power Slap‘ seems to have failed to strike a chord with Joe Rogan, as he revealed on the most recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience‘.

Joe Rogan also elaborated on the reason for not liking the idea of this slap-driven sport. The UFC commentator further stated that he prefers more technique-based sports over this.

Joe Rogan is unimpressed with Power Slap League

The 55-year-old holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Taekwondo, respectively. Joe Rogan has been practicing martial arts for a very long time and is a fervent advocate of the significance of technique in combat sports. That is essentially what he feels the ‘Power Slap‘ lacks. The technique.

During his podcast with Sean O’Malley, Rogan expressed his thought on Dana White‘s ‘Power Slap‘. “Listen, man. I love Dana. And I would be a hypocrite if I said I wouldn’t watch this. Because I will watch it, but, this is not my cup of tea.”

He further elaborated on how the ‘problem-solving’ aspect of these combat sports is what draws him. “What I like is problem-solving. I like puzzles.”

Rogan also stated what he wants when he is watching combat sports: a thrilling bout is what he seeks from these matches.

“I like you(Sean O’Malley) and Yan(Petr Yan). I like this f*****g Russian assassin storming the gates at you and you figuring a way to move around them and kick his leg at jab at him. And that’s what I like. I love that fight. … I love technique.”

Considering the long history of Joe Rogan and martial arts, it’s only natural that he feels this way. The UFC features all the exciting elements one would anticipate from a full-contact sport. And to see two individuals smack each other until one loses, might not be as tempting to watch for devoted MMA fans.

The Internet loves the slap fight

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Logan Paul‘s ‘Slap Fighting Championship‘ was one of the very first mainstream slap-fighting contests. Despite the slapping competition’s lack of technique, it is widely enjoyed by many on the internet.

In the same podcast with Sean O’Malley, Joe Rogan addressed the growing popularity of slapping contests around the globe. He went on to say that Power Slap is an idea that can blow on the internet for its animated nature.

Rogan pulled up a video of one of these slapping contests and was blown away by the number of views it has garnered. Reacting to that, Joe Rogan stated, “Look at the numbers this stuff pulls. It is perfect for social media.” He further added, “You couldn’t have a more perfect product for social media. We believe it will be strong on television, too.”
