

Everyone who follows Joe Rogan knows how he is a big advocate of fitness and health. The millionaire host of JRE regularly shares post-workout pictures on his social media. In a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan talked about the adverse side of bodybuilding, taking the example of the great Ronnie Coleman.

On episode #1900 of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan hosted comedian and actor Steve-O. During their almost three-hour conversation, the pair discussed painkillers and their adverse effects.

Joe Rogan on Ronnie Coleman’s current situation
Rogan was talking about powerlifters and bodybuilders using painkillers. He noted how they suffer from pain in their elbows, shoulders, and back but took painkillers to keep going. The 55-year-old mentioned Ronnie Coleman used to do that and explained how he was suffering at the moment.

Speaking of Coleman’s lifting habits, Rogan said, “He was different than everybody else in that when Ronnie was at the top of his game, Ronnie was lifting enormous amount of weights. Like a lot of bodybuilders did. They just do very, very high reps and a lot of steroids.”
The BJJ black belt mentioned how Coleman achieved his goals but paid a dear price for it-“Ronnie was lifting crazy weights like wild, wild amounts because he just wanted to be massive. Just as massive as a person could be. And he accomplished that but he paid the price.”

The UFC commentator also pointed out what mistakes Coleman made during his pursuit of greatness. He said, “… he(Coleman) would hurt his back and just keep lifting, like, through the set. He wouldn’t stop and pause and assess what was wrong with him.”

According to Rogan, Coleman chased his goals with disregard for his own well-being and that caused his current plight. During an appearance on JRE, Coleman himself talked about his commitment to an insane diet.

When Coleman stunned Rogan with the details of his diet
Joe Rogan hosted Ronnie Coleman on episode #1489 of JRE. During the conversation, the duo talked about various aspects of bodybuilding, including steroid usage, injuries, etc. Rogan also inquired about Coleman’s diet habits.

According to Coleman, he had about six meals a day, One meal, he said, would be a pound of grilled chicken and half a cup of rice. Coleman also added that it was not much to him but would be too much for normal people.

He recounted to Rogan how he had to wake up in the middle of the night to eat and then go back to sleep. When Rogan asked if it was annoying, Coleman said it wasn’t. He explained how you get used to the diet and keep getting hungry every two to three hours because of the amount of food you eat.
