Former UFC fighter Donald Cerrone was scheduled to ride Dana White’s bull, ‘Twisted Steel,’ at a Professional Bull Riding(PBR) event. Earlier this year, Cerrone challenged White that he would not only ride the bull but also control it. White accepted the challenge, stating that he would pay Cerrone $50,000 if he rode it, and $100,000 if he stayed on the bull for eight seconds. However, it seems like the face-off will not happen.

Cerrone and ‘Twisted Steel’ were supposed to face each other on May 18, 2024, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. However, Cerrone has been severely injured after riding a bull. He had to undergo surgery to repair the damage done. Let us have a look at what transpired.

The stakes were high for ‘Cowboy.’ In his journey to beat Dana White’s pride, ‘Twisted Bull’, Cerrone headed over to a ranch to practice on a bull but this time the professional did get the horns of the bull. While riding the Bull, ‘Cowboy’ tipped and ripped his bicep to its core and was rushed to the Hospital for an immediate bicep surgery.

Through his Instagram handle, Cerrone shared multiple videos where he showed his injuries. He added that he might not be able to ride ‘Twisted Steel’ right now but he will have his chance after his recovery. In his latest Instagram video, Cerrone shared the proper video where he tore his bicep and showed his nasty injuries. He captioned the video with a long statement thanking Dana White for hooking him with the best surgeon.

“Well, if y’all want to see what happened to the one-arm man, this is it. Now, if you’re thinkin’, “This is it, and ol’ cowboy is down and out”—no sir. @danawhite hooked me up with one of the best surgeons for a full bicep tear, and give it six to eight weeks, and with help from @transcendHrt, I’ll be back at it. Ain’t going out like this!!,” wrote Donald Cerrone.

The UFC CEO later affirmed that he knew Cerrone was making a mistake when he thought of defeating ‘Twisted Steel’, “I thought this was a bad idea for Cowboy from the start. Twisted Steel is the nastiest bull in the PBR. He’s bucked 90 percent of his riders. Let’s leave it to the pros at the PBR World Finals in Arlington,” said Dana White in an interview with MMamania. ‘Twisted Steel’ is on a record-breaking 35-4 and his next opponent could face the same fate as well.

In another statement to the professional bull rider community, the UFC CEO has come forward to state why he loves bull riding so much. Let’s have a look at it.

White explains his love for bullriding

Dana White has been a fan of bull-riding for quite some time now. In a conversation with the professional bull rider community, White asserted that his love for bull-riding comes from his love of fighting and he thinks that both of them are equally reasonable.

I think the reason that I fell in love with (bull riding) is because the mentality is much like fighting, To step into a cage in front of the whole world and test yourself against somebody that’s trained and is as good as you are is crazy and scary. Then, to get into that rack and slide in on a bull – they strap your hand in, you’ve got to (signal) to tell them to open the (chute). To step into a cage in front of the whole world and test yourself against somebody that’s trained and is as good as you are is crazy and scary,” said White.

You must be wondering White loves the sport but did he ever try it? Well, there was a time when he tried riding but after spending a mere three seconds on the bulky bull, White knew that it was better to leave this sport in the hands of the professionals. In his own words, it was the fastest, scariest, and craziest three seconds of his life.

Donald Cerrone lost the bet even before it started, however, it seems like he would run it again once he gets himself healed. What’s your take on the situation? State your thoughts in the comments below.
