“Time waits for no man,” the everlasting quote, has gained new significance today at the Paris Olympic trials. Former champions and Olympic medalists lost their wrestling trials, and new faces have taken their place. Jordan Burroughs alongside other wrestlers have lost their bout to represent the country and this might be their last outing for the Olympics. Former wrestler and former UFC champ, Daniel Cormier has come up with a beautiful yet reality-striking message for the defeated wrestlers.

Daniel Cormier uploaded photos of Jordan Burroughs, David Taylor, J’den Cox, and Thomas Gilman on his Instagram handle and added a thank you note for the champions for representing the United States in the past. “Time doesn’t wait for anyone, especially in sports. This weekend, we had the Olympic team trials, and some of the names that have represented our great country for so long didn’t make the team. With that being said, as they hand over the reins to the next generation of great American wrestlers, I want to say a massive thank you to these gentlemen,” wrote Cormier.

Cormier further uplifted the morals of the defeated wrestlers and stated that they should hold their heads high as they were one of the reasons the American audience got hooked to the Olympics. “Fellas, y’all were the best group we have had. World champions, Olympic champions, and so many medals. We could always trust that when these guys went onto the mat to take on the world, they would be successful. ” At the end, ‘DC’ explained that he does not know if this is the end for these legends, ” I don’t know if it’s the end for these guys, but if it is, thank you, fellas!!”

Additionally, one of the wrestlers who lost his trial seems to be willing to step into the realm of MMA, however, Daniel Cormier has a piece of advice for them.

Cormier states the wrestlers should stick to wrestling for now

David Taylor, who Aaron Brooks defeated at the Olympics trials stated ahead of his clash that the door to the world of MMA has always been open for him and he might transition to it if he wants to “That door’s not closed,” said Taylor in a conversation with MMA Fighting. He further added, “I’m interested in it. Right now, my focus is being an Olympic champion. If that happens, it’s time re-evaluate and see what’s next. MMA is something that’s very interesting to me.”

Taylor’s statement to move to MMA seems to be getting a sort of resistance from Daniel Cormier.“I love David, but David better stick to wrestling. He’s too much of a wrestler and David’s a nice guy. You have to be a little crazy to fight and David’s as nice as they come,” said Cormier to the MMAFighting.

It must be noted that Taylor made these comments before his clash against Brooks and now that his Olympic 2024 aspirations have been broken he might want to try new things. What’s your take on it? State your thoughts in the comments below.
