The combination of big media houses and talented actors has provided audiences with mind-boggling presentations on the celluloid screen. We have also witnessed cinema enthusiasts getting attached to certain movie characters displaying personalities alike themselves. Hence, it’s quite understandable that they’ll hope for many more such collaborations between bright actors and big-money production houses. It will keep providing them with remarkable motion picture entertainment pieces. However, the current situation isn’t something that they would be pretty happy about.

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists(SAG-AFTRA) which contains a plethora of noted Hollywood stars like George Clooney and Matt Damon, recently announced the joining of an ongoing strike primarily being led by scriptwriters over the famed Hollywood executive organizations. They accused the production houses of providing unsatisfactory remunerations for their projects.

However, the CEO of ‘Endeavor’, Ari Emanuel, was apparently in strict opposition to this strike. Recent reports say that he also made efforts to hold back the SAG-AFTRA from joining the WGA on this strike.

What did Ari Emanuel do to stop SAG-AFTRA from joining the strike?

The Writers Guild of America(WGA) was the primary body leading the strike. However, most of the SAG-AFTRA members had expressed their consent in favor of joining them.

But, recent reports say that the $450M worthy WWE and UFC CEO, Emanuel, negotiated with SAG-AFTRA. Bewilderingly, he also managed to restrict them from supporting WGA in their strike. It’s pertinent to note Emanuel is also the owner of the second-largest Hollywood production house and a member of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

The noted media house ‘Deadline’ reported that Emanuel’s efforts were to find “a way forward for everybody” debunking the “just about stopping a strike” narrative. Numerous fans might view Emanuel as a really amicable personality due to his actions.

‘The 62-year-old’ claimed the second spot in terms of revenues earned by production house chiefs in 2022. ‘CNBC’ reported Emanuel had earned a whopping $364,935,367 from his motion picture ventures in the last year. He was only bested by the famed ‘Warner Bros. Studios’ CEO, David Zaslav, with an income of $498,915,318.

Hence, a number of followers might view the WGA’s demands as quite justified after knowing about the earnings of the production house CEOs.

But, an insider from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) told ‘Deadline’ that their approach might not be that soft towards WGA.

The AMPTP might use UFC-like tactics to deal with WGA

Most UFC fans are already aware of how the UFC authorities twisted the arm of their former Heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou. ‘The Predator’ wanted a few additions to the terms of his renewed UFC contract, without which he would refuse to sign the same. But Dana White and Co. denied his demands and waited for him to run out of resources and finally ask for a fight.

When Ngannou did so, they presented the same contract to him once more, prior to his bout against the returning Jon Jones. The UFC was of the opinion that ‘The Cameroonian native’, due to a lack of resources, would be forced to renew his contract without his previous demands.

The AMPTP insider talked to ‘Deadline’ and revealed they might take a similar approach to corner the WGA, leading the strike against them. “The endgame is to allow things to drag on until members start losing their apartments and losing their houses”, stated the insider. The resemblance between the UFC and AMPTP’s ways of dealing with such rebellions might startle numerous fans.
