

Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey once beat the European Authorities in their own game as they tried to gain an unfair advantage for their own athlete. The bantamweight fighter, who pioneered women’s MMA sports, boasts of a long illustrious career. Not only did she win world championships but also proved her mantel at the Olympics. Further, her never giving up attitude became the trademark of her career, which she inculcated in her younger days. The same propelled her to the champion’s status wherever she fought. Fighting and overcoming adversities thrown at her made her distinct from other athletes. The same spirit was on display as she navigated her way through the officials’ theatrics at the British Open 2007.
Notably, the ‘Rowdy’ struggled to keep her weight in check as she transitioned to competing at the senior level. As a result, she had to move up to the 70 kg category while she starved and drained herself to maintain the weight. To realize her Olympic dream, the then 20-year-old went to the European circuit and her first stop was the British Open.

Ronda Rousey duped the European Authorities at the British Open
The MMA-fighter-turned-actor detailed the incident in her autobiography, My Fight Your Fight. Recalling the incident, she mentioned the weigh-ins were a chaotic affair. While other fighters puked to relieve themselves with the weight-cutting issues, the WWE star never resorted to the same.

Seemingly, the famed judoka was struggling, and despite the hardships, she won her first 3 matches. She was supposed to catch the much-needed break before her scheduled semifinal bout. However, the officials rescheduled her semifinal bout against the home-grown athlete ahead of the break to put her at a disadvantage.
Halfway through the semifinal match, both athletes tumbled to the mat. The 12-2 record holder landed on her stomach with her opponent on top of her. Before she could clinch her jaw, she threw up on the floor.

Ronda picked a hard-fought win after being put at a disadvantage
According to the rules, that action amounted to disqualification. But the Riverside native laid facedown in her own vomit with her arms crossed. And she wiped it up before anyone noticed.
The closely contested match came down to sudden death where the Furious 7 star pulled off a victory. Afterward, she won the final too and claimed the British Open title despite being pushed to the ropes.
