WNBA player Brittney Griner will need to serve 9 years in a Russian jail. Griner’s situation has been at the center stage of the sports world for quite a while now. Many athletes from various sports made different statements about the 6’9” basketball professional. World’s number 1 podcast host, Joe Rogan, had labeled her the ‘clearest form political prisoner’. And now that Griner’s sentence news has come out, the 2-decade vet UFC commentator has reacted to it.

The host of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast posted on Instagram, “This is some really horrible sh*t. I hope some sort of a deal can be made to get her out, and I hope this makes us look at our own policies here in America where thousands of people are in jail for cannabis right now.”

The lifelong martial arts analyst and practitioner reacted to a news headline: “A Russian court sentences WNBA star Brittney Griner to 9 years on drug charges.”

The famed Spotify podcast host had earlier made several statements about the WNBA star. The 54-year-old in his previous Instagram post had noted, “No one should be in jail for doing weed.”

Griner was earlier arrested in Russia for carrying cannabis-infused vape cartridges. There were also reports of a prisoner swap. However, a few hours earlier, the news of her sentence came to light.

One of the most active workers in UFC, Laura Sanko, who is an analyst, backstage interviewer, commentator, and does a plethora of other duties in the promotion, also reacted to the news. The former MMA athlete wrote, “A living nightmare…I can’t imagine what she’s dealing with right now. We are wrecking lives and spending money over nonsense at home.”
