After Prisoner Swap Reports, Controversial UFC Veteran Takes a Shot At Brittney Griner’s Situation – “Laws Not Applied Fairly…”

WNBA athlete Brittney Griner is receiving both support and backlash from the sports world, including the UFC athletes. The 31-year-old player was jailed in Russia for being in possession of vape cartridges containing cannabis oil. The news had spread on the internet like a wildfire.

A former UFC athlete, Tim Kennedy was unhappy with the WNBA player situation. He made a few statements about her in the past month. Now that there are talks of getting a deal done with Russia, the military vet made another comment about Griner on his Instagram handle.

Kennedy wrote, “Laws not applied fairly or evenly are not laws #judicialreform #justice.”

Also, he posted a meme in his post that had a caption, “People in the US in jail for weed while the government trades a Russian war criminal to free a woman’s basketball player in jail for weed.”

Kennedy had earlier shown his disappointment with the basketball professional because of her stance on the US national anthem. Besides, he made a very controversial comment about Griner being ‘sober’ because of the recent troubles.

 

Even former UFC athlete, Ben Askren, made a sarcastic comment about Griner when she stated her ‘rights’ were not clear to her while she was getting detained.

Not only the retired athletes but even Jorge Masvidal had chimed in the conversation when he saw a clip of LeBron James commenting about Griner’s situation. ‘Gamebred’ endorsed James’ trade to Russia.

Veteran UFC commentator Joe Rogan had labeled Griner as the ‘clearest form of political prisoner‘.

Some reports suggested Griner could face 10 years in prison. However, recent reports suggest the Biden Administration is working to get her out of Russia. Reports also suggest Russia’s foreign minister will soon propose a time to have a conversation about the prisoner swap.
