WNBA player Brittney Griner received another comment from a former UFC athlete. The news of the American professional basketball player’s arrest caught the sports world by storm. Many athletes chimed in and backed the 31-year-old Houston native, whereas a few were not on her side. Griner made several statements that got immediate reactions from other professional players. Recently she received one from former MMA world champion Ben Askren.

The former multi-promotion MMA athlete wrote, “Lol what made her think people have rights in Russia?”

Askren has been an outspoken personality in the MMA space. He often speaks his mind on trending topics. The 38-year-old has only three bouts in the UFC. He went 1-2 in these contests. However, these garnered a lot of media hype because of the quirky stuff Askren delivered at the press conferences.

And not only the University of Missouri graduate but also other MMA personalities like Tim Kennedy and Joe Rogan have made comments about Griner’s situation in the past few weeks.

Ex-UFC Ben Askren has no regrets about facing prizefighter Jake Paul

Funky‘ is very active on Twitter. Thus, MMA Twitter often asks him about his decision to face ‘The Problem Child’ inside the boxing ring. Askren usually brushes it off. However, he responded to a fan in one tweet about how he felt facing the undefeated boxer when he had no boxing background.

“It was the right decision. Turning it down would have been both cowardly and limiting my opportunity, two things I don’t aspire to. If I win everyone thinks diffferently. Sometimes you have to be brave enough to make decisions without an assured outcome,” wrote the 38-year-old.

Askren lost the bout via a first-round KO courtesy of an overhand right from the undefeated boxer, Jake Paul.
