WNBA player Brittney Griner was sentenced to over 9-year imprisonment. It came after earlier she was arrested with some illegal substances in Russia. The news caught the attention of the sports world and the rest of America. Even now, the subject of Griner is often brought up in various discussions. Recently, the world’s #1 podcast host Joe Rogan talked to Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers about the 6’9” WNBA player’s situation.

In the latest edition of the JRE podcast with guest Aaron Rodgers, Rogan said, “The hypocrisy about the Brittney Griner situation was so egregious in this country, where Kamala Harris is talking about how horrible it is that Brittney Griner is in jail.” 

The former Fear Factor host added, “You did thousands of people in jail for marijuana… It’s crazy.”

The JRE host touched upon how there are many prisoners in the USA that are in jail for the same activity that Griner did, yet no one was voicing for them.

Some athletes that have spoken about the situation prior have received backlash from the media and public as well. Chiefly, a video, where LeBron James mentioned Griner and commented on the situation, spread the internet like wildfire.

The NBA legend, though, later clarified the matter and offered people did not take the whole context behind his words.

While there have been mixed reactions about Griner. The JRE host has previously talked in favor of the basketball professional.

Griner was fined $16,590 (1 mil. ruble) and 9 and a half years in prison. This came after the 31-year-old basketball professional from Houston, Texas was found with some cannabis in her baggage.
