UFC fighters Tim Elliott (flyweight) and Jamahal Hill (light-heavyweight) are reported to have tested positive for Marijuana consumption and are expected to face a suspension of nine months by USADA.

As per ESPN’s reports, both athletes were under the influence of Marijuana during their recent appearances at UFC Fight Night on May 30.

Not to forget, the respective results for their fight will also be impacted as a result of their substance-related transgressions.

Although he bounced back to the win column against Ryan Benoit on July 15, Elliott would have to remain suspended for at least nine months from now.

USADA conducted the drug tests, and it has come to light that Elliott contested against Brandon Royal under the influence of Marijuana.

Thus, the flyweight contender would seemingly remain inactive for a brief period. The 125lbs division just saw a new champion getting crowned and is extremely volatile.

The flyweight division of UFC is currently stacked with umpteen potential contenders to the throne. That said, a 9-month-long hiatus can significantly affect Elliott’s claim to the Flyweight strap in the division.

Light heavyweight contender Jamahal Hill faced a similar misfortune after displaying similar medical results. Jamahal ‘Sweet dreams’ Hill knocked out Klidson Abreu with a vicious knee during the very first round at the UFC Fight Night- Woodley vs Burns.

However, his victory is expected to be ruled out as a no contest, following his substance abuse reports. And Hill is also predicted to receive a suspension of nine months by USADA.

Light heavyweight prospect Jamahal Hill started his UFC career on a bright note, notching two wins in his first two fights. Now, he would have to deal with the USADA and their drug regulatory protocols, to resume his journey in the promotion.

In addition, his unblemished 8-0 MMA record is now expected to display a no contest.

As per USADA and NSAC regulations, the use of marijuana is prohibited. Although USADA doesn’t slap athletes with a lengthy suspension for it, they still take necessary action.

Therefore, Hill and Elliott’s sentences hardly come as a surprise.

Other than Elliot and Hill, ESPN reports two other UFC fighters to be currently under USADA’s watchful gaze. Luis Pena and Marc-Andre Barriault are also suspended by the Anti-Doping body.

However, the exact reason for their suspension is yet to be revealed officially. Being a call from USADA’s side, it is expected to be related to chemical intake. UFC President Dana White has not commented on the scenario.

Therefore, anything about their substance-related infringements is nothing more than speculation.
