Alistair Overeem Forced to Undergo Plastic Surgery After the Brutal Lip Injury

Alistair Overeem

Fans saw one of the nastiest injuries inside the octagon last night when Jairzinho Rozenstruik took on Alistair Overeem in the main event.

The former UFC heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem put up an impressive performance. He was winning the fight until Jairzinho Rozenstruik landed the thunder in the final seconds of the fight.

The right hand from Rozenstruik split the lip of Overeem into half as he went crashing to the ground. Though Rozenstruik walked away after that one punch the referee had seen enough already as he stopped the fight with 4 seconds remaining in the final round.

Reportedly, Alistair Overeem got plastic surgery on the same night to fix his busted lip and as per his team, he is resting at his hotel now.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani:

“Alistair Overeem had successful plastic surgery on his lip last night, according to his team. He’s back resting at the hotel.”

Overeem is one of the most experienced and accomplished heavyweights in the UFC. He has a ton of experience when it comes to kickboxing and MMA. However, he found his match when he fought Jairzinho Rozenstruik in UFC D.C. Rozenstruik has a long and successful career in kickboxing himself with 64 knockout wins in 86 fights.

It was the first time we saw Rozenstruik fight for 5 rounds and he passed the test with flying colors. He was getting outscored by Overeem, he was breathing heavy in the final round, but with 10 seconds on the clock, he landed the punch that won him the fight. It was spectacular, to say the least.

Well, this was not the first time Overeem suffered a devastating knockout loss. His loss against Francis Ngannou was a terrible thing to watch for the faint-hearted. The strongest puncher in UFC, Ngannou caught Overeem with an uppercut that flat-lined Overeem. The fans in the arena were concerned for Overeem until he got back up.

It would be intriguing to see where does Alistair Overeem go after this devastating loss.
