The main event of UFC 255 will be a flyweight title clash between current champion Deiveson Figueiredo and #1 contender Alex Perez. Going down this weekend, the build-up to this title clash is only getting hotter.

With the bout inching closer, here is all you need to know about the divisional champ Deiveson Figueiredo.

Figueiredo is a Brazilian native, born in the town of Soure, Para. During his early childhood, he helped his parents out on the farm. His humble beginnings are hugely credited for the work ethic he possesses to this date.

At the age of 13, he dove into the world of MMA. Falling in love with the sport, he decided to pursue it as his career.

Currently competing in the UFC, during his time in Brazil they crowned him the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Northeast Brazil champion.  Figueiredo went pro in 2011 and made his debut in the UFC in 2017, going up against Marco Beltran at UFC 220 in his debut.

Figueiredo took on and defeated Beltran that started off a run that led to his eventual ascension to the divisional gold. He has taken on and defeated the likes of Jarred Brooks, Joseph Morales, John Moraga, and Joseph Benavidez. He currently stands with an overall professional record of 19-1-0 with his only loss coming against Jussier Formiga.

Having a wide range of skills and ways in which he finishes his opponents off, Figueiredo has 9 KO/TKOs, 7 submissions, and 3 decision victories to his name. He has the power to finish an opponent and also go the distance if required and secure the win either way.

He secured the flyweight title at a vacant title bout against Joseph Benavidez. Figueiredo absolutely dominated the fight and took the win via a rear-naked choke with 12 seconds left in the first round.
