Following Francis Ngannou’s victory over Jairzinho Rozensrtuik, Jon Jones took to social media to sow the seeds for a potential heavyweight showdown between the two.
Fans all over the world have been wondering about what could be if this fight was to materialize. Dana White addressed this issue during the press conference after the UFC on ESPN 8 fight card.
As of now, both Ngannou and Jones are on standby. The UFC has not scheduled any title defenses for Bones. On the other hand, Ngannou is waiting for the third edition of Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier to take place. Following which he will take on the new UFC heavyweight champion.

“Anything’s possible. I don’t know if those guys really want that fight. You know what I mean? Let me tell you this. And I’m not saying this is the case with these two. You see a lot of talk online and whatever it might be. But actually making fights is a whole other ball game,” said White during the press conference.

Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones’ take on the issue
With what both the fighters have been saying on social media, it seems like this fight might just become a reality. The pair went back and forth discussing the possibility of the same.
Watching his former foe, Ovince Saint Preux compete against Ben Rothwell in the heavyweight division sparked an interest in Jones to follow suit. Even though OSP lost that fight, Jones will not be backing away from the challenge.

Following a small back and forth with The Predator, Jones made a statement confirming his interest in taking a fight against Ngannou. The only catch? It has to be a big money fight. Because it is highly unlikely for a fighter like Jones to put his otherwise spotless record in jeopardy by taking on a hard hitter like the Cameroonian.
“Who would you guys consider the quicker and more technical striker Thiago Santos or Francis? If you guys think I wouldn’t take this fight you’re insane. I have absolutely nothing else to prove as a light heavyweight. I’d love that big money fight right around now. Send the deal,” said Jones in a recent Tweet.

Francis Ngannou did not take too long to hit back at Jones. He claims that he would be willing to take on Jones for the right price.
“If you think you can handle my technique level that’s fine but I agree with you that you don’t have anything to prove in LHW division and that this should be for bags,” said Ngannou.

However, considering the current environment in the heavyweight division, this grand showdown seems a little far-fetched.
Who do you think would come out on top if Jones and Ngannou were to fight?
