The ‘G.O.A.T’ Artem Lobov has revealed his plans for the future in a recent interview . Lobov was last seen in action against Jason Knight in a Bare Knuckles fight where he lost via unanimous decision. Despite the loss, Lobov revealed he’s interested in a boxing fight against his former foe Paulie Malignaggi. Paulie Malignaggi gained notoriety for getting knocked down as Conor McGregor’s sparring partner and lost to Artem Lobov in a bare-knuckles fight back in 2019.

However, Lobov said that his plans are on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The virus has ravaged the sporting world, with major events being canceled or postponed. Moreover, several promotions have suffered losses in the millions, making it almost impossible to run an event without revenues from ticket sales.

“To be honest now with this coronavirus, my last conversations with every promoter that I was in talks with prior to this has been ‘okay that sounds good’ but let’s wait and see where this corona situation takes us. Because we don’t know when we are going back. The UFC on one component can afford to run events without people in attendance. But not many other promotions can” said Lobov

The prospect of a rematch between the two foes might have to wait given the current situation. Both fighters put on a show last time around, with the fight breaking several records for the promotion.‘’The Russian Hammer’ was victorious the first time around, applying pressure on Paulie Malignaggi as the rounds went by and secured the victory via unanimous decision.

A boxing fight between the two is interesting, given the history the fighters share. Moreover, both men  are relatively big names and will generate a lot of hype. But just like all other plans, this too remains at the mercy of the coronavirus.
