In a recent post on Instagram, UFC lightweight Beneil Dariush opened up about his bout against Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira. Dariush addressed the fight that now stands scrapped. The reasons behind Oliveira’s withdrawal remain clouded in mystery. And the UFC is yet to release an official statement regarding the same.

In the post, Dariush wrote, “After my fight with Scott Holtzman, the UFC offered me a fight with Charles Oliveira on Oct 3rd. I accepted and so did Charles. I did not announce it because I was waiting on the UFC to announce it and I would follow.

“I been informed Charles is out of the fight. I am not sure on the details but I hope all is well with Charles. I am currently working with the UFC to figure out our next step. I will keep you all posted on the details.

“Finally, even though the fight did not come to fruition I want to thank the UFC, Sean Shelby, and my brother Ali Abdelaziz for setting this up.”

Why we need Charles Oliveira vs Beneil Dariush to happen

Dariush (19-4, 5 KOs) made his professional MMA debut in 2009. He was signed by the UFC in 2014, making his debut against Charlie Brenneman, a bout that he won via submission in the first round.

Having experienced his share of ups and downs in his career, Dariush is on a tear currently riding a five-fight winning streak. He has been at the receiving end of multiple performance of the night bonuses over the course of his unbeaten run.

His opponent Charles Oliveira (29-8, 8 KOs) made his pro-debut in 2008 and joined the UFC in 2010. He made his UFC debut against Darren Elkins and won the bout via submission early in the first round.

A third-degree black belt in BJJ, Oliveira is one of the best submission artists the organization has to offer. Riding an impressive seven-fight win streak, Oliveira has won five of the bouts via submission.

His last fight saw him go toe to toe against the former interim title challenger, Kevin Lee, whom he bested in the third round via submission.

With both fighters riding a massive wave of momentum being on the longest win streaks of their respective UFC careers, it would’ve been a very exciting bout for the fans.
