The undisputed champion defended his strap against Dominick Reyes back in February 2020 at UFC 247. The bout would be highly contentious, with many fans being split down the middle as fas as the winner was concerned.

Moreover, a large majority of the fan base pegged Reyes to have marginally edged out a decision on the scorecard.

Additionally, Jon Jones has been at odds with the UFC regarding contractual disputes following the fight. In light of this, MMA fans were surprised to hear that UFC President Dana White was in talks to book a fight for Jones.

As the fight was underway, Reyes found success early on and was able to find the champion’s range at will. He exchanged power shots with ‘Bones’ and constantly circled inwards with his dynamite left hand.

Moreover, he showed versatility in the grappling and clinch department, unlike previous challengers.

Chiefly, his well-rounded display was the key focus when it came time to read out the judges’ scorecards. A certain faction of the MMA community was up in arms as Jones won the day and retained his belt.

Chiefly, a rematch between Jones and Reyes would go a long way in resolving any lingering doubts.
