An update regarding the Light Heavyweight division has long been in the offing. With the UFC rolling out events spontaneously and well back on schedule even amidst a global pandemic, it is time for 205 pounders to get going.
The last title fight of the division was the controversial brawl between Jon ‘Bones‘ Jones and Dominick Reyes. While many, including Dana White, called for an immediate rematch between the two, the world engaged in the battle against coronavirus before the UFC made any decision regarding the fight.
Will Jon Jones defend his title at Light Heavyweight?
The first question that springs to mind is whether the reigning champion, Jones, will return to his division. After his match with Reyes, he sounded very excited about their rematch.
However, he had a major change of mind within the next few months. He apparently requested the UFC to shift him to Heavyweight. When the UFC told him it was not feasible at that moment, he burst into a rant on Twitter regarding the same.

Moreover, he has been training for a shift up to Heavyweight for quite some time now. He had also announced that he was vacating his Light Heavyweight title. Even though the official UFC stats show no difference to that effect, Jones sounded pretty convinced that his time at LHW was over.

If he does return, Jones will fight one of Jan Blachowicz or Dominick Reyes. ‘The Dominator’ has been aching for his rematch ever since the judges ‘robbed’ him of his victory at UFC 247.
On the other hand, Jan defeated Corey Anderson to earn the title contention slot. Therefore, finalizing a fight should not be difficult.
