Khamzat Chimaev is a hungry contender who wants to fight regularly. However, owing to the pandemic, he wasn’t able to secure a visa to the United States. However, these issues are a thing of the past as the Swedish fighter has been granted a visa and will compete in his third UFC fight.

‘Borz’ will fight at middleweight against Gerald Meerschaert on the September 19 fight card. This fight in the 25-foot octagon at the UFC Apex will mark his US debut.

Chimaev has thrilled fight fans with his relentless attacking at Fight Island’s standard size cage. Hence, there is a belief that the smaller enclosure would play into his hands.

UFC President Dana White revealed that if ‘Borz’ wins again, the promotion would try to book him against Demian Maia. However, Meerschaert has other ideas and predicted the outcome of his fight against the upstart. In doing so, he confirmed that the match is a go and will take place on the card headlined by Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley.

Gerald Meerschaert plans to destroy Khamzat Chimaev

The middleweight fighter tweeted that he envisioned a competitive fight where ‘Borz’ would not be cleared to compete at short notice again. ‘GM3’ wrote, “He’s not leaving the cage physically able to fight in October.”

The claim is bold considering his dismal run in recent fights. ‘GM3’ has claimed an abysmal two wins in his last seven visits to the Octagon. He has won 23 fights by submission and has the game to counter the strike heavy fight style.

However, Chimaev is no mug on the ground. He put an exclamation mark on his UFC debut with a D’Arce choke on Jordan Phillips and will look to prove himself and not sustain damage as he aims to chart a path to the champions. The fighter revealed that this was his goal as he jokingly said he could fight again in an hour and smash everyone following his win at Fight Night: Whittaker vs Till.

What do you make of Khamzat Chimaev’s next fight? Do you see him securing another massive win and making a quick turnaround?
