The speculation about Robbie Lawler vs Mike Perry not taking place at UFC 255 has turned out to be true. ‘Ruthless’ Lawler has suffered an injury and will not be able to go up against ‘Platinum’ Perry. The latter has, instead, turned his attention towards a fight with Khamzat Chimaev.
Earlier this month, during the broadcast of UFC 254, the promotion revealed the lineup of its next PPV card. Last month, ESPN reported that a fight between Mike Perry and Robbie Lawler will take place on the card. However, the card which UFC revealed did not have the aforementioned fight.
This gave way to speculations regarding why the fight wasn’t present on the Nov. 21 card. Mike Perry has given the reason for the removal of the fight from the event. As per ‘Platinum’, Lawler will not be able to fight as he has suffered an injury. Further details on the injury are awaited as of now.

So @Ruthless_RL pulled out due to an injury. Looking for a replacement I asked for @KChimaev and we can do it at middleweight @ufc @FirstRoundMgmt

Coming off a win over Mickey Gall with only his girlfriend in his corner, Perry has made the headlines for all kinds of reasons. Regardless, he still wants to step inside the octagon on Nov. 21. He has called out rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev for a showdown between the two at middleweight.
Prior to this callout, Perry had already trolled Chimaev on social media once. He wanted to go against the fighter from All-Stars Gym in Sweden at 185-pounds to prepare for Robbie Lawler.
Khamzat Chimaev already has a fight booked against Leon Edwards in December
With a record of 3-0 in the UFC, Khamzat Chimaev has been the biggest breakout star for the promotion in this year. His first two fights came within a stretch of ten days during UFC’s first stint at Fight Island in July. In the two fights, he fought once at welterweight and then at middleweight.
‘Borz’ also took minimal against the two opponents and showed his excellent grappling prowess. In his third fight against Gerald Meerschaert, he grabbed an impressive first-round knockout. The win proved that he doesn’t necessarily have to take his opponents down to grab a dominant win.

His next fight will be against No. 3 ranked welterweight Leon Edwards. It will be a chance for him to leapfrog many contenders and move to the top of the division. Therefore, it isn’t a wise decision for him to step on short notice against Perry.

However, Chimaev is the same fighter who tweeted that he wants to fight several times in a single night. If ‘Borz’ meant what he claimed, then this is his chance to back it up by stepping against Perry.
