While the fans are buckling up for UFC 252, the promotion is putting together fights to ensure that there is no shortage of action. As per reports, UFC 255 will be a doubleheader. Both the men’s and the women’s flyweight titles will be on the line in November.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN broke the news on Twitter. Scheduled for Nov 21, UFC 255 will feature the first title defense of Deiveson Figueiredo against former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. The Brazilian won the vacant 125-pound belt after submitting Joseph Benavidez in the first round of their encounter last month.

Meanwhile, Cody Garbrandt broke a streak of losses in his last fight at UFC 250. He knocked out Raphael Assuncao in the final seconds of the second round of their encounter. Prior to the Assuncao fight, Garbrandt had suffered three consecutive setbacks. Two of them were against former bantamweight kingpin T.J. Dillashaw, while the recent one came against Pedro Munhoz.

Even before the Assuncao fight, Garbrandt expressed a desire to move down to flyweight in search of his second title. ‘No Love’ argued that he walked around 140-145 lbs. Hence, dropping down to flyweight wouldn’t be much of a challenge for him.

While weight cut may not be an issue for Garbrandt, the flyweight champ wanted him to compete at 125-pounds before fighting him for the belt. However, the UFC looked interested in the booking. Despite going 1-3 in his last four fights, Garbrandt is still a very familiar face among the fans.

Valentina Shevchenko will also defend her belt at UFC 255

The women’s flyweight queen has been a force to be reckoned with in the division. During her three title defenses, she has had to face little or no adversity at all. She was earlier supposed to defend her belt against Joanne Calderwood at UFC 251. However, she pulled out after suffering a leg injury.

Calderwood instead ended up facing Jennifer Maia. With an impressive win over Calderwood, the Brazilian has punched her way to her first title shot. However, in front of her will be one of the most dominant female fighters in UFC history.
