Junior dos Santos set to have a massive fight at UFC 252

As per Combate and BJPENN.com, the Brazilian fighter will return to the Octagon for the first time since January. Here, ‘Cigano’ lost to Curtis Blaydes via 2nd round TKO at the main event of UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Dos Santos.

It was his second consecutive TKO defeat, having lost in the same manner to Francis Ngannou last June. To his credit, ‘Cigano’ is the only one of ‘The Predator’s last 4 opponents to have made it past the one minute mark.

He faces 6th ranked Heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik who tasted defeat for the first time in his MMA career at UFC 249. ‘Bigi Boy’ felt the wrath of Francis Ngannou and went down in 20 seconds after taking an enormous punch. He will be looking to recapture the momentum he had generated with a TKO and 3 straight KO wins before that. ‘Bigi Boy’ beat Junior Albini, Allen Crowder, Andrei Arlovski, and Alistair Overeem in 2019.

However, the fight will not be the main attraction as UFC 252 will also see the long-awaited Cormier-Miocic trilogy. Based on the challenger’s comments all through the spring it will be his swansong. But, neither Dos Santos nor Rozenstruik can stake a claim for the belt next. This is because ‘The Predator’ is largely expected to be the next contender. However, both of them will be eager to get back into the win column.

‘Cigano’ looks fitter and meaner, and will be looking to finally claim the record for most KO wins in the UFC Heavyweight division. At present, he is tied with Derrick Lewis and Cain Velasquez at 10.
