In a recent live stream on Instagram, Colby Covington said that he would embarrass “Journeyman” Jorge Masvidal in a real fight.

Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal share quite a rivalry. Although they are enemies now, the duo used to be friends at a point in time. In fact, it was Masvidal who introduced Covington to ATT – the gym in which both fighters train.

The former best friends had a fall out when ‘Chaos‘ did not pay one the coaches in ATT. Moreover, Covington also adopted the ‘heel’ persona which further strained their relationship. Both athletes completely despise each other to a point where they don’t even respect the rules laid down by the owner of ATT.

A few weeks ago, Masvidal broke the ‘Colby Covington Rule’ right after it came into force. The rule bars trash-talking between fighters who are not scheduled to face off against each other.

Colby and Masvidal are bound to fight each other in the future. But the Coronavirus pandemic will not allow it to happen so soon. Besides, Colby has his sights set on the former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley.

However, the physical restrictions do not stop both men from competing virtually. Covington went live on Instagram to announce a virtual bout between him and ‘Gamebred‘.

“The only place that journeyman Jorge Masvidal would ever fight me is virtually. Cuz you know he is never gonna fight me in the actual octagon. Cuz he’s scared. They got me as a +140 underdog. It’s a joke. I mean, I should be a 10-1 favorite over journeyman Jorge Masvidal. But it’s okay.” Covington said.

“I’m probably gonna be embarrassing journeyman, Street Judas, Jorge Masvidal.” He added.

No doubt that Covington vs Masvidal will be an interesting fight virtually, but a real fight between the two could be huge. Being megastars in the company, Jorge and Colby can sell a ton of pay-per-views.
