Colby Covington took to social media and fired shots at UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Per reports by MMA Junkie’s John Morgan, the headlining feature for UFC 251 at Abu Dhabi has undergone a cancellation. Kamaru Usman was slated to face-off against Gilbert Burns before the latter tested positive for COVID-19.

Not to mention his brother and cornerman Herbert Burns, suffered the same fate causing an early collapse to the card. The recent report posits that the fight will be rescheduled for a later date. Neither Welterweight fighter has boarded the plane to Yas Fight Island, truly solidifying the end of the 170-pound title fight.

The former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington refuses to shy away from throwing barbs at the champion. His heel character in the sport of MMA continues to shine through his social media.

Covington believes that he rightfully deserves an immediate rematch for Welterweight gold, the UFC however disagreed. Gilbert ‘Durinho’ Burns is coming off incredible victories over Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia, staking his claim to the title shot.

The news of the fight cancellation comes as a tremendous surprise given that the fight is a week from today. The UFC has yet to make any official statement regarding the demise of their UFC 251 headliner. Fortunately, the event also hosts two more title fights which will now be elevated in their placement of the card.
