

The war of words between Conor McGregor and Ali Abdelaziz has continued after rumors ran rife of a fight between Justin Gaethje and ‘The Notorious’. Conor publicly called out Gaethje on twitter, after he defeated Tony Ferguson at UFC 249. However, given that Gaethje is the interim champion, he’s set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov next.

McGregor is set to be eyeing a return in July, however, a bout with Justin Gaethje is highly unlikely. ‘The Notorious’ fired shots at manager Ali Abdelaziz, however, Khabib’s manager was quick to fire back at the criticism.

“He had his chance for that, and he picked Cowboy in January. He picked the easier fight. The two kings of the division are going to fight in Khabib and Justin. Conor can be the co-main event,” said Abdelaziz to ESPN

McGregor was last seen in action against Cowboy Cerrone in January. It took just 40 seconds for ‘the notorious’ to dismantle Cowboy, thus announcing his return to the division. Although, no contract has been signed yet, many point towards a potential trilogy bout with Nate Diaz.
