It’s been almost two years since Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov had collided inside the octagon at UFC 229. However, the blockbuster event continues to garner attention from all over the world. Both Khabib and Conor are currently inactive in UFC. But, a ‘much-awaited’ rematch has always been on the cards. Despite having no confirmations over the ‘grudge fight’, ‘Khabib vs Conor’ remains special for umpteen other causes.

No wonder, UFC 229 ‘Khabib vs Conor’ is the most successful UFC event to date in terms of PPV sales. But the fight is also special since it has made a lot of young stars to realize their potential. Sean O’ Malley considers himself to be one of them. ‘Sugar’ Malley has already claimed to become a bigger superstar than McGregor in the future.

But there are certain things which Sean O’Malley has learned from the Irish giant. And he vows to never do them in his career.

Sean O’Malley reveals what he learned from Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov

The undefeated Sean O’Malley (12-0) recently spoke to MMA Fighting and addressed several things from his UFC career. While he went on to lash at his fellow UFC contenders- Petr Yan, and Cody Garbrandt, he also took note of the ‘Khabib vs Conor’ fight from 2018.

The rising  UFC superstar said that he is never going to let things get personal in his UFC voyage. ‘Sugar’ vows to keep it all for the business. According to him, Conor was a great businessman before the Khabib fight. However, Sean O’Malley believes that Conor let things go personal against Khabib. And it ultimately overshadowed his stellar UFC journey.

“For me, it’s always going to be business. I think Conor [McGregor] was really good at that until the Khabib [Nurmagomedov] fight. I feel like that got too personal, and it played games with him. I definitely learned from that experience with Conor vs. Khabib, I can’t let it get personal. I learn from everyone always, especially guys like Chael [Sonnen], Conor, guys that know how to talk and sell fights,” said Sean O’Malley.

Conor and Khabib went on to buildup one of the biggest rivalries in the history of MMA in 2018. However, it was solely Conor who took charge to take things on a personal level. ‘Notorious’ McGregor mocked Khabib and dragged personal stuff like- family, father, religion, and country into the press conferences. And Khabib was not ‘okay’ with it.

Conor also offered alcohol to Khabib during the press meeting, which the Dagestani refused. Thus, the defeat tasted sour when it all came down to the Irish at UFC 229. Khabib defended his title in fashion. And handed a humiliating loss to Conor, which the world still talks about.
