Dana White Announces Huge News About Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje

Fight Island is set to be the long-term home for the UFC as it seeks to conduct fights involving international fighters. There could be some blockbuster clashes in store for fans all around the world. One clash that has blockbuster written all over it is the Lightweight unification bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. Dana White sheds light on the location of this mouthwatering clash.

UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN 1000 Chicago. Here, as per Brett Okamoto’s report, he said, “I don’t know if it will be the first one. But it will definitely be on Fight Island, unless the world miraculously comes back together faster than I think it’s gonna.”

For the past month, the UFC President has been maintaining that the infrastructure is under construction. However, fans may remember his claims last month, where he stated he could ship fighters there within a month. 

However, White hasn’t had to do so, as Florida declared sports an essential business. The state allows sports as long as fans were not in attendance. Yet, international fighters remain on the shelf.

This is due to pandemic travel restrictions. Even Florida will not allow international fighters into the state. White hopes for a mid-June date of completion of Fight Island. “Hopefully it will be done by mid-June, and I could put on a fight that weekend that it’s done or end of June.”

‘The Highlight’ demolished Tony Ferguson at UFC 249. As a result, he proved to be the biggest beneficiary of stepping up at short notice. But in the post-fight press conference, he dismissed the idea of fighting in July. 

‘The Eagle’ said he is ready to fight. However, it remains to be seen how quickly he can get ready. As of this moment, he is observing Ramadan and as per the ESPN report, he would need time to get up to fighting level.
