UFC 253 will witness the crowning of a new light heavyweight kingpin. Meanwhile, the former champion Jon Jones has been keeping a relatively low profile as he continues his self-imposed hiatus. Most of the speculations around Jones’ return have been centered around the heavyweight division. However, Dana White believes that Jones could even end up fighting Israel Adesanya.

Jon Jones vacated his belt earlier this year amidst failed negotiations with the UFC. When Jones took a break from competition, people expected him to bulk up and return at heavyweight. Dana White reminded everyone that Jones is yet to make a move. He added that it is equally likely that he ends up evaluating his options after UFC 253.

“Jon hasn’t moved up to heavyweight yet. We don’t know what Jon’s gonna do,” White said while talking to TMZ Sports.

“If you’re Jon Jones right now, you probably sit back and watch what happens this weekend, see who wins, how they win, and maybe make them defend the title and then you come back and try to regain it.”

Jones last competed in the octagon against Dominick Reyes. He won the closely contested fight, which could have gone any other way. Reyes will step inside the cage to capture the belt that eluded him the last time around. He will face Jan Blachowicz in the co-main event of UFC 253.

Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya have had plenty of back and forth between them

The middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya has had a beef with Jon Jones. He had claimed that he would even chase ‘Bones’ to heavyweight. However, in an interview with ESPN before the Reyes fight, Jones boasted that he was simply better than the Kiwi in all aspects of the game.

The two even had a back and forth on Twitter after Adesanya defeated Romero. Therefore, a fight between the two is something that Dana White will have no issue in promoting.

“Or you move up to heavyweight. Or if Adesanya wins this weekend, you fight Adesanya, I don’t know. Jon Jones is in a really good position right now,” White added.
