Dana White Reveals New testing Rules For Fighters

UFC President Dana White is mere days away from fulfilling his promise of bringing back live fights in the midst of the coronavirus.

Naturally, many people have their reservations and doubts regarding Dana’s move. This is mainly because everyone is exercising maximum restraint because of the easily communicable virus. Also, MMA is one sport where the contact between athletes is extremely intimate.

Of course, Dana White understands the concerns that people have. And thus, ever since the pandemic struck, he has repeated time and again that ensuring safety is nothing new to his organization. In a recent interview with CNBC, he said,

“Health and safety isn’t something that just popped up with the coronavirus with us. It’s something we think about every weekend.”

He answered various questions regarding the steps that the UFC is taking to ensure complete safety during its events.

“We sat down with our doctors and we said, ‘how do we figure this out?’. Obviously, number one is, you get rid of the crowd. Number two is, you cut the staff that [is] running the event [by] more than half. And we make sure that these athletes are healthy. Obviously, now we have to make sure that everyone around them is healthy, too. So, we are doing two different types of testing. And we’re gonna make this thing as safe as we possibly can.”

When will fans get to see live fights in stadiums again? Dana White answers

Ever since the onset of the pandemic, it was declared throughout the globe that any gathering will be dangerous. Let alone gathering, meeting people at all for the coming months will be life-threatening. And this ruckus will most probably go on till a definite cure is found.

And what’s a more “public” of a gathering than sports events and concerts? Thus, experts predict that it could be well more than a year before fans step into stadiums again. However, UFC Boss Dana White has an interesting revelation in favor of the fans.

Expressing his thoughts on when fans will be able to watch live fights in front of them, he said

“I think that when testing gets to a much higher level, I’m hearing about these tabs that you can lick and it immediately tells you if you have it. I think if that sort of testing comes, we can start seeing fans at events again.”

Well, if that’s true, we sure do hope that these tabs are developed ASAP! And of course, the cure, too.
