UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic is looking forward to his trilogy fight with Daniel Cormier.

The two last locked horns in 2019, when The Silencer reclaimed heavyweight gold. He unleashed a barrage of left hooks to the body followed by shots to the head to win the fight via TKO in the 4th round.

Now, the Heavyweight division awaits the trilogy clash between Stipe and DC. However, while Stipe is looking to face off against the latter, he is not thinking about fighting in the near future. This is because the coronavirus pandemic has caused all places to shut down. Including gyms. Also, the champ does not want to engage in battle without going through a proper training camp. And the same could take a long time, given the still deteriorating conditions worldwide.

Stipe appeared in an interview with The Score. Talking about whether he’d fight DC next, he said,

“Yes. Definitely gonna fight him again. But, that’s the least of my worries right now.” Stipe is currently involved in his duty as one of the first responders amid the pandemic. At present, he is concentrating on his duty, and is keeping his family safe. Moreover, he stressed the fact that with the gyms shut down, there’s not a lot he can do.

“[I’m] just gonna keep waiting and hoping out until these guys [can start] training again. I can’t get a full camp in, so there’s no reason to fight.”

Stipe Miocic reacts to the many fighters calling him out.

A lot of fighters of other weight divisions in the UFC have shown interest in jumping to heavyweight and fighting for the title. These include Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya and Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.

“Ah whatever, man. Everyone wants a piece, I guess. It is what it is. This is the world we live in, right?”

Stipe clarified for the hundredth time that fighting is the least of his concerns at the moment. The paramedic is taking his job with the utmost seriousness. The battle against coronavirus is one he does not want to lose at any cost.
