Anderson Silva has been in the UFC for over a decade. Joining early back in 2006, ‘The Spider’ has experienced most of the ups and downs the UFC has faced in the Zuffa era and now with the new owners of the UFC.

Endeavor, the new owners of the UFC bought the company in 2016 for a reported $4 Billion. This is a figure that shocks fans and businesses alike. The previous owners, Lorenzo, and Frank Fertitta moved on to other ventures while Endeavor kept Dana White on as president.

Anderson Silva, who fights at UFC Vegas 12 this weekend, sat down with Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports. He went on to discuss his relationship with Dana White and the difference with Lorenzo.

Past issues with Dana White

Silva previously had issues with the UFC President after his fight with Demian Maia. The UFC President was not happy with Silva’s cautious approach in the fight. ‘The Spider’ said, “When people ask me about Dana, I just talk very simple. I don’t have anything bad to say about Dana, he’s a very interesting man, and he’s a very good guy. I respect Dana a lot.”

Anderson Silva on differences without Lorenzo

‘The Spider’ described how he felt when the previous owners, the Fertitta brothers, parted ways with the company. He said, “When I talk about Lorenzo, I’m very happy and I miss Lorenzo in the UFC because Lorenz is a very good guy.”

Later he added that White is a good guy, but Lorenzo brought more energy akin to a close family. He felt that once Lorenzo departed; the energies changed as the previous owner made the UFC special for every single person.

Silva discussed what he feels the issue could be. He told Iole, “I think the problem right now is Dana doesn’t have the time.” The 45-year-old acknowledged that the growth of the company has been exponential and the UFC President has a lot on his plate, especially now with the pandemic.

‘The Spider’ concluded, “I love the UFC. I have had an amazing story inside this company,” Silva stated. “Every single moment I try to do my best, that’s my part inside the company, to do my best and stay ready.”

Anderson Silva will now look to finish his UFC career on a high with a win this weekend. ‘The Spider’ will face the ever-dangerous Uriah Hall and look to give his all, as he has always done throughout his stellar career.
