UFC welterweight contenders Niko Price and Donald Cerrone have verbally agreed to meet on September 19. The date currently has the UFC 253 PPV penciled in, however, as per Ariel Helwani, the UFC may push it back by a week. Hence, fans cannot say with certainty that Cerrone will have a third consecutive fight on PPV.

As per Brett Okamoto, “Breaking: Cowboy Cerrone and Niko Price have verbally agreed to meet on Sept. 19, per multiple sources. Stylistically, hell of a fight. Should be all action.”

Cerrone has frequently jumped weight classes during his tenure with the UFC. However, in 2020 he has featured prominently in welterweight. Furthermore, fans can assume that the 170 pounds division will be where they collide as Price is yet to feature in a non-welterweight bout in his career.

Cerrone knows he is running out of time to secure a win in 2020 and avoid a winless year akin to 2017. In Niko Price, he faces a fighter who is on a similar mission.

The Hybrid’ also featured at UFC 249 in Jacksonville and took on Vicente Luque on the preliminary card. Here he went down via a final round doctor stoppage TKO.
