UFC Middleweight Darren Till is set to face off against former champion Robert Whittaker on July 25 at Fight Island. Darren Till spoke to Michael Bisping on his podcast and gave his views on fighting ‘The Reaper’. The bout was one of the first fights reported to take place on Fight Island before it was formally confirmed.

Robert Whittaker dropped the middleweight strap to Israel Adesanya back in October 2019. This will be his opportunity to make the necessary changes to his approach against a game opponent in Till.

The Gorilla’ was triumphant in his move up to middleweight after beating title challenger Kelvin Gastelum. Darren Till was facing difficulties at Welterweight following his loss to Tyron Woodley for the belt.

Darren Till is known to be one of the most candid and upfront fighters on the roster. This is much of the reason fans heavily gravitate towards him. ‘The Gorilla’ was brutally honest when asked about facing middleweight tyrant Yoel Romero and said that was something he’d much rather avoid.

Once again Darren Till was entirely transparent when talking about facing Robert Whittaker.

“I don’t know what Rob we’re gonna expect. We’ve been having a good back and forth for a while now, it’s been really fun. So whatever Rob comes. I will say I’ve been preparing during [the] lockdown and while maybe it’s coming to an end maybe it’s not, Fight Island’s on the horizon. Got six weeks to fight for five rounds.

“I hope to f**k he doesn’t show up to my fight. Easy win, easy money”.

The straight forward nature of Darren Till is one of his most endearing qualities. In a sport full of heels and characters, Till offers a welcome change to the landscape of fight promotion.

The fight itself is expected to be a striking clinic. Not to mention if Till can manage to win, he could potentially set himself up for a title shot.
