Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez shared his prediction for Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje. Tony Ferguson was set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov, but the ill-fated match-up witnessed a cancellation for the 5th time. ‘The Eagle’ pulled out of the fight citing travel restrictions as the reason. However, despite the cancellation the UFC managed to bring in Gaethje, giving him a chance to compete for the interim belt.

“I’ll watch him over Khabib any day of the week”- Eddie Alvarez

“Justin Gaethje is one of my favorite fighter’s to watch. So I’m never ever going to say he shouldn’t fight somebody. I’ll watch him over Khabib any day of the week. He’s just fun to watch and this is my opinion only, I think Justin can knock Tony out I really do. I think he has the style to put Tony away and I would love to see that fight before the Khabib fight.”

Justin Gaethje was last seen in action against Donald Cerrone, securing a TKO victory in the first round. ‘The Highlight’ is known for his dirty boxing and will certainly pose a serious challenge to Tony Ferguson. Moreover, Justin is known for having the toughest chin in the UFC with the fighter able to absorb a plethora of punches and still deliver a killer knockout blow. Gaethje squared off against Eddie Alvarez back in 2016 and lost via knockout, but he’s been on a winning streak since defeating top contenders such as Edson Barboza and Cerrone in the process.
