Edson Barboza Returns to UFC Action in October

UFC Featherweight Edson Barboza is set to face a new opponent on October 10th. The Brazilian will face the hard-hitting Sodiq Yusuff in what promises to be a contender for ‘Fight of the Night’.

The news of the fight came after the Barboza’s original opponent in Jeremy Stephens pulled out, via Combate.

The perennial contender in Stephens withdrew, citing a possible inability to make weight safely. Moreover, he has often experienced issues cutting to the 145-pound limit across his storied MMA career.

‘Lil Heathen’ is notably well-sized for a featherweight, to say the least, and will be keen on a full camp.

Edson Barboza has had a tough go in the UFC as of late and he will be keen to get back on track in a big way. Moreover, he has been on the wrong side of several close fights, losing his last three in a row.

His debut outing in the 145-pound division saw him lose a close decision to Dan Ige in a fight that many pegged him to win.

The high-level striker has been a problem for Lightweights ever since he came into his own in the organization. He holds notable names over former champions and top contenders like Anthony Pettis and Dan Hooker, to name a few.

The Nigerian-American fighter in Sodiq ‘Super’ Yusuff has been on an absolute tear in his professional career. He is on a 6-fight win streak and will be keen to add an opponent like Barboza to his resume.

His ability to put on an intense pace has made him a serious threat in the division.

The Fight Night card headlined by Top-Ranked 135-pounders in Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen will see a new contender emerge. Additionally, the aforementioned featherweight bout will add its own dimension of excitement to the reportedly stacked card.
