It’s been 10 years since Edson Barboza made his UFC debut. Barboza, known for his highlight reel kicks, holds some devastating finishes in the UFC.

Coming off a unanimous decision win in his second featherweight fight against Makwan Amirkhani, Barboza has now only one fight remaining on his UFC contract. Recently, he sat down with MMA Junkie to discuss his future.

Barboza made his UFC debut back in 2010, finishing his opponent with leg kicks. The Brazilian fighter was something special. Barboza lit up the UFC with finishes via leg kicks, spinning wheel kicks, and kicks to the body during his career.

Having been a mainstay of the UFC lightweight division, Barboza has only lost to the top athletes of the division, one of the most stacked divisions in the promotion.

Edson lost to the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Kevin Lee, Paul Felder, and Dan Ige. Barboza changed divisions to freshen things up, moving down to featherweight.

Now looking for a quick turnaround, Barboza discussed his future in the UFC. “Yes exactly,” Barboza said when asked to confirm if this is the last fight on his current UFC contract.

Edson Barboza is excited about his future

Barboza is not sure at the moment if he will sign a new contract or test free agency. “I have worked for UFC for 10 years, you know? It’s a long time,” he told MMA Junkie. “I love the UFC and everything I have in my life the UFC has given me.”

“I need to see who’s the best for me and my family,” Barboza said. “I’m very excited to see what happens because I don’t know what’s the next step in my career but I’m very excited.”
