Petr Yan comes out in support of Rafael Fiziev after his win at UFC Fight Island.
Though Rafael Fiziev isn’t a common household name as yet, he is on the rise. He is one of the topmost prospects in the lightweight division. Fiziev has worked his way up and secured for himself a fight at UFC’s Fight Island during a global pandemic.
Backing up the hype that surrounded the youngster when he initially arrived at the UFC, he put on a stand-up performance. He went up against Marc Diakiese on Saturday night at UFC Fight Island 2. With a skillful display of brutal body kicks combined with some eye-popping defense, he secured the victory via decision. The fight was scored 30-27, 29-28, and 29-28 with Fiziev getting the unanimous decision.
Fiziev is now on a two-fight win streak following his first loss via a knockout in his debut fight. He is for sure one hell of a fighter and he will be a lightweight fighter to watch as he moves forward in his UFC career.
Petr Yan congratulated Rafael Fiziev
One big-name backing Rafael Fiziev as he works his way up the roster is UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan. Petr Yan and Rafael Fiziev go way back, all the way back to Thailand!
Both of them train at the same gym in the Asian country. Petr Yan usually goes to Thailand to train at the Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Training Camp in Phuket. A lot of prominent UFC fighters use the facilities in Thailand to work on their Muay Thai. The likes of Shevchenko sisters, Khalil Rountree, Ian Heinisch, and Rafael Fiziev among many others use the Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Training Camp.
Congrats brother! Amazing performance 👏🏼 https://t.co/FNuT0L5KHb

This is probably where Yan and Fiziev met and became training partners. Since then Yan has been sort of a mentor to the young lightweight prospect.
Yan took to social media to coagulate Rafael Fiziev on his victory. A well-deserved one!
