Fight Island is on! Darren Till and Robert Whittaker All Set to Headline UFC Event

Darren Till may former champion Robert Whittaker on July 25. According to Combate.com, the much-awaited matchup between middleweight contenders has been set up at Fight island.

Although much remains speculative as the UFC is yet to confirm the bout, the fighters have verbally agreed to be a headlining feature on Fight Island. Ilha de Luta is the location reported as the Fight Island. It will serve the fighters who cannot enter the United States due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

UFC Dublin was slated to host the middleweight matchup on August 15. However, due to extenuating circumstances, things have changed.

Darren Till and Robert Whittaker: Where do they stand?

Robert Whittaker is coming off a loss against Isreal Adesanya, who clinched the middleweight strap in the 2nd round. The Reaper, who was on a 9 fight win streak, was shockingly derailed in his home country of Australia.

Welterweight title challenger Darren Till successfully moved up to the middleweight division with a victory over Kelvin Gastelum.  Till was coming off a two-fight skid and found himself in need of reinvention.

The UFC has had to restructure the entire calendar for 2020. However, they are making remarkable strides. The UFC is the first major organization to make a return, bringing live sports back in a big way.

With a successful multi-card fight week at UFC Jacksonville in the books, The UFC has seemingly perfected a way to put on a show for the fans.

The reported Middleweight clash will hold major title implications.  Whittaker will be keen to make his presence heard in the middleweight division once again. Darren Till, standing in his way, will be looking to enter into contention at a new division.

A southpaw-orthodox fight is always stylistically interesting. Given the two are career precision strikers, fans and pundits will make much of Robert Whittaker’s drastically different approach during the Adesanya fight.
