Having cemented his legacy as one of the most accomplished combat sports fighters in recent history, Henry Cejudo is currently retired. However, that can quickly change if the UFC makes him an enticing offer. As far as his comeback is concerned, he would love to get in the boxing ring with Ryan Garcia.
Cejudo announced his UFC retirement after defending the bantamweight gold against Dominick Cruz earlier this year in April. Ever since then, ‘Triple C’ has always kept the door for a comeback open. Having already held the flyweight and bantamweight title, Cejudo now has his eyes set on featherweight gold.
For his comeback, the UFC isn’t the only destination on Cejudo’s radar. He has also teased a fight with WBC Silver lightweight titleholder Ryan Garcia. In an interview with ESPN, ‘Triple C’ labeled Garcia as an ‘Oscar De La Hoya’ wannabe. He also vowed to take away the zero from his record if he fights Garcia.

“In mixed martial arts, it would be Volkanovski. Overall, the fight that I really want is Ryan Garcia,” Cejudo said as he discussed a potential comeback.
“I would love to beat that Oscar De La Hoya wannabe with the padded record. I would love to make him bend the knee and become a three-sport world champ. Not just two, but three. And eventually, become C4, so they can all bend the knees,” he added.
Henry Cejudo could make a massive payday fighting Ryan Garcia
At the stage where he is in his life right now, Cejudo has become more oriented towards the financial outcomes that his decisions will have. He is well aware that a fight in the ring with Garcia would be the biggest payday of his career, irrespective of the result.
However, setting up a fight with the 21-year-old undefeated champ would be a task in itself for Cejudo and his team. The Arizona native is still under UFC contract. Therefore, any venture outside of the promotion will require consent from the same.

Moreover, Cejudo has also campaigned for the UFC to allow him to fight Alexander Volkanovski for the 145-pounds belt. However, City Kickboxing coach Eugene Bareman feared that the fight will not come to fruition. This is because he feels Cejudo isn’t a big enough draw for the UFC to give him a large payday for his return.
