Luke Rockhold has been out of the fighting business for almost 10 months. However, a potentially homeless lady forced the former UFC Middleweight champion to tap into his inner fighter whilst walking his dog. 

Recently, while in conversation with Denis Shkuratov and Kacper Rosolowski, Rockhold shared a harrowing story involving a drug-addled lady. 

“She was on the bus stop bench, and she looked bad. Like, homeless. And she looked like, probably meth or something and just nasty, nasty look, a lot of crap all over her, maybe some blood or something I saw. She was super out of it.”

“[The woman] glanced up at me like real quick, looked down. I didn’t think anything of it. I just kind of just stayed on my path on the edge” said Rockhold as he described the zombie-like vagrant on Submission Radio.

Rockhold claims that the woman, in an abominable state, took a run at him, which naturally took him by surprise. And by the looks of things, it seemed like the vagrant wanted to spit on Rockhold. A practice that usually induces fury and more so, during an ongoing health epidemic. 

“As I got closer, she popped up out of nowhere and ran at me like some zombie or something. It was wild. She just jumped and started to run at me like ‘arghhh’ and she started hocking a loogie like she was gonna spit on me. Like, trying to scare me or infect me kind of thing,” explains Luke Rockhold.

How Luke Rockhold Defended Himself

As the woman approached the former UFC champion, Rockhold let his signature move loose on her. Which unsurprisingly sent his assailant flying to the ground. 

“It happened so quick, so instinctually. The thing just ran at me and I was like, ‘what the f**k?’ I didn’t know what to do. And as it got close to me I just reared up with just a vicious front kick. And just launched that thing in the air.”

“[She] Landed on the ground and literally like started quivering like a vampire frying in the sun or something,” said Rockhold as he explained how it all went down. 

The American southpaw explains how everything happened so fast. Rockhold admits that at first, he felt that the woman, loaded on drugs, would not even notice him walk past. However, his aggressor glanced up for a second and charged at him. Forcing the 35-year-old to resort to violence to protect himself. 

However, Rockhold admits that he could not believe he left the altercation untouched, “I watched the spit hang in the air and like pretty much fall right on top of her. And I was like, how did I come out of this clean and not get touched? Checked myself, nothing touched me, nothing got on me, and I was like, I’m out of here.”

Rockhold has been away from the octagon since his loss to Jan Blachowicz in his debut in the light heavyweight division. This defeat left the fighter reconsidering his future in the UFC.

However, walking back on these comments, Rockhold is looking at a return to the octagon soon enough.
