UK has most probably found another MMA prospect in Tom Aspinall, who recently stunned everyone by notching a vicious KO win on debut at UFC Fight Night 174. The Brit Heavyweight knocked out his rival Jake Collier in the very first round and is currently 1-0 in UFC. Although he still has a long way to go in the promotion, it’s always special to earn appraisal from veterans on debut.

Frank Mir applauds Tom Aspinall for his debut KO win

Aspinall appeared aggressive from the very initial moment of the fight, and he wasted no time in unloading over his opponent. The Brit landed significant strikes over Collier and ended the fight in 45 seconds. Now, registering a knockout within a minute on UFC debut has already brought him into new limelight.

Frank Mir is clearly impressed with the performance as he took to Twitter and wrote, “Welcome to the family my son”. Mir seemingly hinted at the heavyweight division. However, there can be another reason, as Aspinal seemingly looks a lot like Mir.

The UFC heavyweight division has witnessed umpteen elites throughout the years. The current roster is equally stacked and filled with deadly knockout artists. Thus, the inception of one more would intensify the entire roster for all the obvious reasons.

Meanwhile, it is the fourth UFC loss for Jake Collier. ‘The Prototype’ hasn’t been successful in registering two back-to-back wins in UFC to date. The misfortune continued as he lost against Aspinall, after winning his previous fight against Marcel Fortuna in 2017. Although his return to UFC was expected to be a special one, he faced one of the most horrific losses of his career opposite a debutant heavyweight.

What’s next for Aspinall?

The Brit Heavyweight is just one fight old in UFC. He still has a lot of fights left to register himself as an A-lister. But an impressive debut reflects that Tom can very well be one of the elite heavyweights.

His debut performance is expected to be an alarm for the entire division. If remained active, the Brit is expected to return shortly. However, for the timing, Aspinall would seemingly celebrate a successful UFC debut.
