Prior to his potential fight against Tyron Woodley on May 30, Glibert Burns gave his verdict on Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje. Gaethje stunned the world when he stopped Tony Ferguson in the fifth round.

Winning the interim lightweight championship puts Gaethje in an interesting spot. He will now face off against the lightweight champion in a title unification bout later this year.

Although many people favor Khabib to win, UFC welterweight – Gilbert Burns believes that Gaethje is a bad matchup for Nurmagomedov.

In an interview with Sherdog, Burns said: “I think Justin Gaethje is a bad matchup for everyone in the lightweight division. The guy is crazy. The two losses he has from Dustin Poirier and Eddie Alvarez, I think he has evolved so much, he improved, he got a lot better.”

Gaethje entered the UFC with a perfect 17-0 record. After winning his first fight against Michael Johnson, he lost his next two bouts to Poirier and Alvarez. These losses were an eye-opener for Gaethje. It forced him to make several changes to his game.

“He’s a dangerous fighter. He has high-level wrestling too, he’s a bad matchup for Khabib. I think both, Tony [Ferguson] and Justin are bad matchups for Khabib. I can’t wait to see these fights. I wanna see Justin Gaethje and Khabib very soon.”

Burns is currently riding a 5-fight win streak. The Brazilian last fought at UFC Fight Night: Lee vs Oliveira in which he defeated Demian Maia via a technical knockout. This will be his second fight in a row to take place in an empty arena.
