“Go Ahead, Knock Yourself Out”- Scott Coker Mocks Dana White’s Fight Island Plans

Dana White is a very determined man. He wants to ensure that the UFC is the first sport back and is leaving no stone unturned. In order to attain his objective, he had even secured a location on tribal land in California to host UFC 249 this weekend. However, the event was postponed after ESPN higher-ups asked him to stand down. 

White’s efforts have won him a lot of admirers all around the world. However, his ambitious ideas have their fair shares of detractors too.

Bellator MMA President Comments on UFC and the Fight Island 

Scott Coker appeared on Morning Kombat and admitted that the world in a unique time. However, unlike his competition in the UFC, he is willing to wait for a couple of months to get the go-ahead.

“Give it a couple of months and we will all be back to business, I believe, and we will start doing fights.”

He shared his views on Fight Island saying it has already been done. “Well listen, that has already been done in 1973 with ‘Enter the Dragon.’ “Bruce Lee had to go to Han’s island and he had to fight Han and kill Han at the end and let all the prisoners go. That has already been done. You want to go to an island? Go ahead, knock yourself out.

The MMA promotion canceled their Bellator 241 event in March. At the same time, UFC went ahead with their fight night in Brazil. Coker believes he made the right decision at the time as, “there are bigger things than fighting right now.

Bellator, UFC and a host of other sports could be set for an early return. This is because sports held in closed arenas have been deemed as essential businesses by the state of Florida. 

The UFC said they will have an event on May 9th. However, the location is unknown and Dana White will guard it well as he will not want his best-laid plans to fall apart yet again.
