Georges St-Pierre and Khabib Nurmagomedov could quite possibly battle each other after the latter goes through Justin Gaethje. However, the call is yet to be made official by the UFC administrators.

The UFC Lightweight Champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, has chalked up plans for his final two fights in the promotion. In his departing bout, Khabib vowed to compete against Georges St-Pierre in April.

Considering how GSP is no longer an active contender, bagging a fight against him won’t be so straightforward for Khabib. Nonetheless, The Eagle is gunning for a fight against Rush for the sake of his legacy.

While UFC fans have always appeared thrilled about the much-awaited matchup, Dana White recently gave an update over its possibility in the not so distant future.

Georges St-Pierre Set to Wow UFC Fans in a Brand New Role

Dana White has an update on Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Georges St-Pierre

Speaking with Aaron Bronsteter, Dana White addressed several issues going over the promotion at this point. Not to forget, Khabib vs GSP is one of the best prospects and Dana White is the man to take the final call.

However, it seems like White is still not ready for the plan.

When asked to put light over the possible matchup, White replied, “Well let’s see what happens with Gaethje, you know that fight is going to happen first and you know we just hired GSP, he’s the French commentator for us.

“That’s more what I would like to see GSP doing.”

Georges St-Pierre last stepped into the octagon against Michael Bisping at UFC 217. The Canadian submitted Bisping to become the two-division champion. Therefore, there’s no denying that GSP is already a veteran who has got nothing to prove.

Yet, a victory against Khabib would somehow still enrich his legacy. Khabib has been gunning for the matchup for quite some time and it looks like he is ready to make it his last dance inside the cage.

Taking note of the possible thriller, White said, “You don’t see too many athletes who go out on top. GSP has done that. He (Georges St-Pierre) has got the money, he doesn’t need the money.

“He is working for us now in a different capacity and I would love to see him go on the top.”

Khabib vs Gaethje preview

Khabib ‘The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov and Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje are set to battle while headlining the event at UFC 255. However, the PPV is yet to be cemented.

However, there’s no doubt about Khabib taking the fight this year. A few weeks ago, the UFC champion’s father passed away tragically.

It made a lot of fans worry about Khabib’s future in the promotion. Yet, the undefeated champion has claimed to take the lightweight battle closely. After Gaethje, Khabib will seemingly take one more fight before hanging his gloves up for good.

Meanwhile, Gaethje earned his title shot by ending Tony Ferguson’s 12-fight win streak at UFC 249, potentially shocking the entire MMA universe.

Despite being the underdog in his upcoming contest, Gaethje still stands a very real chance at causing a major upset.

He has already proven himself to be a deadly striker and Khabib would have to deal with an extraordinary prospect in his upcoming fight.
