

Today marks the birthday of UFC’s ‘og’ gangster, Nate Diaz. ‘The Stockton slugger’ is one of the most iconic fighters to ever step foot inside the octagon. Diaz has been with the UFC for over a decade and has given us fans plenty of memorable moments. Here’s a list of his most iconic fights.

1.Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor – UFC 196
Perhaps, Nate Diaz’s greatest victory of all time, this fight had it all. Both fighters are excellent trash-talkers, and it was on display for the world to see. Nate Diaz took the fight on short notice and put a beat down on McGregor. He absorbed some clean hooks and uppercuts early on, but his excellent cardio and resilience ensured he had the edge. Diaz cleverly took McGregor to mount and delivered some nasty ground and pound. To get off McGregor rolled onto his back allowing Diaz to lock in a rear-naked choke and secure the victory.

2. Nate Diaz vs Donald Cerrone- UFC 141
Nate Diaz put in an amazing performance against Donald Cerrone at UFC 141. The war of words had started long before they stepped into the octagon. Diaz knocked off ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone’s hat during the press conference and the moments that ensued were legendary. He dismantled Cerrone with his trademark dirty boxing, using his accuracy to land devastating shots. He sealed the victory with a unanimous decision.
3.Nate Diaz vs Michael Johnson – UFC on Fox 17
Michael Johnson was certainly an extremely dangerous opponent. But that didn’t seem to bother Diaz one bit. The Stockton Slugger picked Johnson apart with extreme precision. He taunted Johnson throughout the fight, folding his hands at one point. Perhaps his post-fight speech is more famous than the fight itself, as it set up a perfect rivalry with ‘The Notorious’ one.
4.Nate Diaz vs Jim Miller- UFC on Fox 3
Diaz announced his name to the UFC faithful after this memorable fight. Miller who hadn’t been stopped in 24 bouts was the favorite going into this bout. The ‘BMF’ delivered some excellent shots on miller, before taking it to the ground. He sealed the victory with a trademark guillotine choke. Although, not his most famous fight, it certainly was a major statement for the fighter rising up the ranks.

Diaz was coming up against a formidable wrestler in Pellegrino, but that didn’t faze him at all. Pellegrino executed an aesthetically pleasing slam but felt right into Diaz’s guard. Nate wrapped his legs around and got him into a perfect triangle choke. A few middle fingers and bicep flexes later, Diaz proved he was truly a legend in the making.
