Colby Covington has gone after his former teammate and friend Jorge Masvidal. Covington had plenty to say when speaking to theScore about Masvidal’s current difficulty in booking a fight. ‘Gamebred’ is largely considered the front runner to fight for the Welterweight belt. This fight has been building up ever since his last victory.

It appears that Champion Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal are stalled at the negotiation table. ‘Gamebred’ has recently voiced his displeasure with the UFC regarding his payment leading into the aforementioned bout.

Colby Covington, however, thinks that money is not the only factor at play in that fight not being booked. Taking to Twitter, he dropped a message right at Masvidal, following the latter’s recent comments.

Colby Covington has had his sights on Jorge Masvidal ever since the former roommates parted ways. Covington believes that a fight between the two of them is the biggest possible match-up to be made at the moment.

Colby Covington: Choice Words

“It would definitely be the friends-turned-enemies angle with journeyman ‘Street Judas’ Jorge Masvidal. Jorge can’t read, he can’t write, he can’t spell and he definitely can’t fight.

“What’s going on? Why does [Masvidal] not want to fight Usman? Why’s he holding out? Why’s he scared? Maybe there’s something going on that we don’t know about.”

Covington continued his smear campaign to possible usurp Masvidal and be next in line to fight Kamaru Usman. ‘Chaos’ appears to have his sights set on either one of these match-ups exclusively.

“Maybe Jorge wants ‘America’s champ,’ maybe he wants the ‘People’s Champ,’ maybe he wants Donald Trump’s favorite fighter, and maybe he wants Miami’s favorite fighter because he claims to be from Miami,” Covington added.

“But everybody knows I’m the king of Miami right now and I run the streets of Miami… The UFC knows that I’ve expressed my interest and I want my rematch with ‘Marty FakeNewsman’ which I deserve. Or, I want this fight with Journeyman Jorge Masvidal.”

In a log-jammed Welterweight division, it is unclear who will eventually be set for a title bout. With New top contenders rising up on heavy resumes, Colby Covington’s next match is up in the air.
