Alexander Volkanovski beat Max Holloway at UFC 251 and the ensuing polarizing reactions are no secret. The champion has come across these and dismissed an immediate fight against ‘Blessed’ in favor of other ranked contenders. He also named who he would like to fight next and commented on a possible Chan Sung Jung vs Brian Ortega fight which would decide his next opponent.

In a chat on Submission Radio, the UFC Featherweight Champion highlighted his want to fight bullies. He said, “Yea, like I said, I do, want bullies, but at the same time, it seems like the bullies are his manager or something, which already got a good slapping from Ortega so they shut up for a while.”

‘The Korean Zombie’ is ranked 4th in the Featherweight division and sits behind 2nd ranked Ortega and 3rd ranked Zabit Magomedsharipov. Hence if he is to fight ‘The Great’ he would ideally need to beat either of them. He is due to fight Ortega with their clash at the end of 2019 getting nixed because of ‘T-City’s injury.

The Australian fighter hinted at Chan Sung Jung being a good fight for him. He said, “Zombie’s a pretty cool dude, but if he’s gonna let his team run their mouths, he deserves a beating for it as well. But definitely. That’s a good fight.”

Alexander Volkanovski comments on ‘Korean Zombie’ vs Brian Ortega

At this point, ‘The Great’ sheds light on the situation. Here he implies that ‘The Korean Zombie’ is holding out for the title fight rather than accepting the ‘T-City’ match. Fans would believe that he isn’t serious about taking on the champion as the same travel restrictions should hamper him here too.

Volkanovski said, But with Ortega saying he doesn’t believe Zombie, you can’t really believe Ortega for saying that because supposedly Zombie can fight me, but can’t fight Ortega. So, it just doesn’t really make sense.”

“He’s calling me out saying he wants to fight me and blah, blah, blah. But at the same time telling Ortega that he’s got these restrictions and he can’t fight. So, you can see where Ortega’s coming with that.”

Featherweight fighters slammed the UFC 251 result with ‘The Korean Zombie’ saying, “it is shameful that Volkanovski is a champion of my weight class.” In the same post, he promised to not let the judges decide his fight.

The quickest way for ‘The Korean Zombie’ to get a title fight and back his claims would be the Ortega fight. This is a fight UFC President Dana White has shown interest in. Do you see this fight happening soon?
