Jon Jones made a shocking revelation as he announced that he will vacate his Light Heavyweight title.

This news comes after his recent altercation with UFC Boss Dana White. The two engaged in a week-long public argument with Dana White over issues relating to his fight purse with Francis Ngannou. Neither of them were ready to budge from their stance. While Dana claimed that “Bones” was demanding a huge price to fight Ngannou, Jones claimed that no such conversation ever took place.

However, Jones decided to put an end to the never-ending argument. He took to his Twitter handle and announced that he would be vacating his Light Heavyweight title. Here’s what his coach, Mike Winkeljohn, had to say about the same.

“I think Jon is serious. He is really happy right now. He’s spent a lot of time with his girls and has matured. He’s focusing on taking care of his family and today he is cleaning up glass after the riots. Last night, he stopped someone who was trying to spray paint. I believe Jon has grown up. He also only has so many fights he wants before his career is over and he wants to be paid for those fights. Jon is also looking at what the boxers are making and we know there is more money for him to be made.”

Mike Winkeljohn believes that the UFC needs Jon Jones

Dana White claimed that Jones was asking for “Deontay Wilder money.” Following Dana’s comments, Jones claimed that he would earn much more in his first boxing fight than in his next three UFC fights combined.

Speaking on the same nerve, Mike said,

“I know Jon sees what the boxers are making. I have to give great props to Dana White and the UFC for what they’ve done. They have given us jobs so that is a fantastic thing. But, they do have a monopoly so they have control of what they pay. But, when you are the best at what you do, you should get the money. I want Jon to get more money because I care about Jon. In my heart, I think Jon will sit out for a while. The fans will miss the best of all-time and he’ll get back in there and fight again. I’m hoping the UFC sees his value and gives him some money.”

However, Mike also clarified that Jones will remain a fighter. Thus, according to him, Jones most definitely will fight again.

“Deep down he wants to challenge himself. So, I would be surprised if we didn’t see him fight again. The UFC also knows they need Jon back.”

Do you agree with Mike? Do you see a successful renegotiation between the UFC and Jones anytime soon?
