Khamzat Chimaev entered the UFC on the back of 6 consecutive finishes. The change of scenery did not hamper him one bit as he announced himself to the UFC audience in style on Fight Island. His sheer dominance and ruthlessness have attracted eyeballs from all corners. Now, a veteran MMA combatant in the UFC’s second simultaneous two-division champion, Daniel Cormier opened up on Chimaev.

On ESPN MMA’s ‘DC & Helwani,’ he commented on the Swedish fighter and compared his style to a fighter he is likened to in the current UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Here ‘DC’ said, “Khabib moves, he’ll throw some jabs and punches and then he’ll change levels, right? It’s all disguised.”

Cormier said, “This Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t even care. He just goes after you like a dog that was held on a leash for the last 6 months and he gets to go eat right now.”

Khamzat Chimaev decimated the competition on Fight Island

‘Borz’ took just 2 strikes and dished out 124 in his submission victory over John Phillips at Fight Night Kattar vs Ige. Eager to compete, Chimaev remained in Abu Dhabi and featured on the main card of the final event in the Flash Forum.

Here at Welterweight, the fighter had Rhys McKee on the ground within 20 seconds. He pummeled his opponent at will, earning a TKO triumph 189 seconds into the contest. En route, he struck McKee 68 times.

In two fights on Fight Island, ‘Borz’ landed 192 strikes and got hit just twice. He felt fresh enough and aired his belief that he could compete again before Robert Whittaker and Darren Till closed out the event.

Chimaev has announced himself with a bang. However, moving forwards, fighters will be ready for his all-out attack fight style. Furthermore, as he wins and rises in the rankings, the challenges will be trickier. However, ‘Borz’ has absolute confidence in himself. Whilst talking to Dan Hardy after his fight, he said he would smash everyone and asked for the champions.
