“He Kicked My Liver Out of My Body!”- Donald Cerrone Looking For Vengeance Against Anthony Pettis

The Cowboy” Donald Cerrone is all set to enter the Octagon again. He will go up against Anthony Pettis at UFC 249 on 9th May.

The Welterweight bout is of extreme significance to Cerrone. It was against Pettis that he lost his first fight via strikes. And thus, he will look to avenge the fact that Pettis was the one o bring that blot on his career.

They first clashed in 2013 at UFC on Fox 6. In just over 3 minutes of the first round, “Showtime” delivered a huge knee right to Cerrone’s ribs. The blow completely staggered Cerrone, and he fell to the ground. Pettis emerged the winner by way of TKO.

Reminiscing the fight and entertaining the chance to avenge his loss, Cerrone spoke to MMA Junkie. He said,

“He kicked my liver out of my body. It sucked. Of course, you always want to get a loss back. But it’s just stylistically a good matchup. It’s a good fight with good fun. It’s a fight the people want to see.”

Donald is spot on over there. With two of the greatest fighters that the Lightweight Division has seen, the fight is definitely one that will excite the fans.

Donald Cerrone describes Anthony Pettis as “100 percent my friend”. however, he also stated that he won’t mind setting the friendship aside for 15 minutes of professionalism.

Cerrone has one of the grandest careers in UFC history. Even though he has had his fair share of losses, his career boasts of various records, including ‘most finishes’. And the fact that it didn’t need much convincing to get him on the card, even though he was one of the later ones, speaks volumes about his fighter spirit.

Cerrone last graced the Octagon in January when he went up against Conor McGregor. The fight ended within 40 seconds with The Notorious winning via TKO.

That loss put Cowboy on a 3-fight losing streak. Yet, the warrior is ready merely months after his last loss, ready to engage in battle.
